Turkey in general is not super well known when it comes to gluten-free food. This is partly because they use a lot of wheat in Turkish cuisine. In addition, I often get mixed experiences from people who share their stories with me. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it goes wrong. It varies a lot from hotel to hotel, but sometimes unique situations.
However, don’t let this scare you away! In fact, it is possible to find hotels that are very willing to help you. Just don’t expect a gluten-free approach to food in every hotel like you might be used to in a Spain or Italy. It’s just a good search!
Furthermore, sometimes you also have to be willing to dig a little deeper into your pocket. In fact, gluten-free hotels in Turkey are almost always the 5-star hotels. This is often reflected in the prices. So as a family in high season it can sometimes be more expensive. However, in our opinion it is always worth it. You can namely carefree gluten-free food in Turkey. Delicious right?
Gluten-free Turkey = a wonderful vacation country
I have been to Turkey several times myself. And it is a beautiful country. A wonderful climate, wonderful nature and more than enough activities aimed at tourists. You will certainly not be bored for a moment. Due to the wide range of activities and hotels that are already fully equipped for tourism, Turkey is still one of the most popular vacation destinations. (both gluten-free and non gluten-free)
I myself have been to Antalya and Alanya. These are the more famous resorts in Turkey. Very touristy which often increases the chance of finding a gluten-free hotel. Here I visited the hotels Hotel Titanic Resort and Hotel Club Paradiso. Beautiful hotels with all the ingredients for a great vacation. At both hotels it is possible to eat gluten-free or take into account other dietary requirements.
The list of hotels, unlike a Spain for example, will not be so large. There are more hotels that do indicate they take gluten-free dietary needs into account, but after reading several negative experiences, I decided not to mention them.
Hotel TIP: Mirage Park Resort
